List of Journals/Publishers Who Have Granted TAMU Students Permission to Publish Material in Their Thesis/Dissertation
Below is a list of journals and publishers* who have answered "YES" to a request from the Dean of Graduate Studies for "blanket" permission for TAMU students to use material in their electronic theses and dissertations that they have already published (or plan to publish) as articles in their journals. Restrictions, if any, are noted.
IF YOUR JOURNAL IS ON THE LIST
- If you are using material in your thesis/dissertation that you have already published (or intend to publish) in a journal that IS on this list:
You do NOT need to contact the journal publisher for reprint permission, as it has been granted to all TAMU graduate students in response to a general request made by Dean J.R. Giardino of the Office of Graduate Studies.
IF YOUR JOURNAL IS NOT ON THE LIST*
- If your journal is NOT included in this list, and you want to use an article you have published (or plan to publish) in that journal:
You need to contact the publisher yourself, as the decision to allow you to use the article in your ETD may be made on a case-by-case basis.
- If your journal/publisher is NOT on this list and you have a publishing agreement for an article that has already been published:
Check the agreement. There may be a clause in it retaining your right to use the article in your thesis/dissertation.
- If you plan to publish in a journal NOT on the list and you do not yet have a publishing agreement or contract (before your thesis is done):
It is recommended that you include in the future contract with the journal publisher a clause that allows you to retain the right to use the article in your thesis/dissertation.
*The list includes a number of publishers who publish many titles. Find out your journal's publisher, and check the list for the publisher name. These publishers have given "blanket" permission to TAMU for ALL of their titles.
