On September 16 and 17, 2009, the Thesis Office will host a series of seminars, hands-on demonstrations, and walk-in clinics. All graduate students, faculty and staff are invited.

Information Seminars
The Thesis Office wants to help students plan effectively for their thesis or dissertation and encourages graduate students and advisors to attend an informational on either Wednesday, September 16, from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. or Thursday, September 17, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Sterling Evans Library, Room 204E. The seminar is highly recommended for graduate students expecting to graduate during the 2009-2010 academic year and their graduate advisors.
Attendees will have an opportunity to interact with Thesis Office staff, while receiving an overview of critical processes, learning essential requirements, and guidelines for a thesis/dissertation, obtaining information about services offered, and discovering electronic resources available. Refreshments will be served.
Live Webcast Available
If you cannot attend in person, the seminar will be webcast live on Thursday between 2 and 4 pm. The live stream will be available on Channel 6 of the TTVN website and will be archived for later viewing.
On the TTVN website, select the "Webcasts" link in the top menu bar. Click on Channel 6 about 5 minutes before the program starts. You may want to visit the website in advance to determine if you need to install or update your computer's Windows Media Player prior to the actual webcast.

Demonstrations (All Sessions Are Currently Full)
Students/faculty/staff who would like an opportunity to preview the student electronic thesis/dissertation submittal system, to receive instruction in using the Thesis Office Microsoft Word templates, or to evaluate our new electronic pre-submittal conference are encouraged to attend one of these hour-long demonstrations. Space is limited to 14 participants per session. Due to location restrictions, no refreshments will be available for these sessions.
Vireo Demonstration
This demonsration will provide an overview of the student electronic thesis/dissertation submittal system. Attendees wiill have an opportunity to submit a sample thesis, view the license agreement, and ask questions about the submittal and review process.
Vireo demos will be held on Wednesday, September 16, from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 17, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. All demonstrations will be held in the Sterling Evans Library, Room 204F.
Thesis Office Microsoft Word Template
This demonstration will provide an opportunity to sample the Thesis Office Microsoft Word templates. Attendees will be able to select an appropriate template from the available options, enter data, receive instruction on formatting and style selections, and ask questions about template use and general formatting.
Template demos will be held on Wednesday, September 16, from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 17, from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. All demonstrations will be held in the Sterling Evans Library, Room 204F.
Electronic Pre-Submittal Conference Preview and Feedback Session
In this session, attendees will have opporturtunity to preview and evaluate our new electronic pre-submittal conference, scheduled to debut at the end of Fall 2009. The electronic pre-submittal conference will address Thesis Office deadlines, requirements, processes, and provide specific guidance on the formatting of the Thesis/Dissertation.
Walk-In Clinics
Students who would like one-on-one formatting and style guidance are encouraged to attend our walk-in clinics scheduled for September 16 between 10:30 to noon and 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. and September 17 between 8 a.m. to noon. These 20 minute consultations are designed to provide early, informal and specific guidance on a targeted section of your thesis or dissertation. Students are encouraged to bring specific questions.
Students should bring material in electronic format on a flash drive to Room 612 Sterling Evans Library. Be advised that only a few computers in the Thesis Office have Microsoft Word 2007, thus students may wish to convert material to pdf or to an earlier version of Microsoft Word.
Refreshments will be provided.
